Rev. Bill McClung
Senior Pastor
Pastor Bill grew up in Chesapeake, VA and attended the church his father was raised in, Wesley Memorial United Methodist in Norfolk, now called Wesley-Grace. He is a graduate of Indian River High School in 1988, Campbell University(NC) with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Christian Ministry in 1997 and The Theological School at Drew University(NJ) with a Masters of Divinity in 2000. Pastor Bill has served previous churches of Pembroke Charge in Giles County, Ghent in Norfolk, Salem in Virginia Beach and Courtland in Southampton County.
Bill and his wife Carrie have been married for just under 6 years. Carrie grew up in Virginia Beach, VA where was a member of Foundry United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach growing up. Bill and Carrie are a blended family with 3 teenagers. They are extremely blessed that all three of their kids maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA all while continuing to excel and enjoy their various extracurricular activities.
Their son, Andrew McClung is 17 years old and is a rising 12th grader at Maury High School in Norfolk. Andrew is the starting kicker and punter for the Maury football team. Andrew is a member of the Maury soccer team, and he plays the viola in the Maury High School Chamber Orchestra.
Their daughter, Breanna Denson is 15 years old and is a rising 10th grader at Acellus Academy, a virtual, online, private school. Breanna attends online school because she is a competitive gymnast at World Class Gymnastics in Suffolk, VA. and this method of schooling allows her to maintain her 26 1/2 hours of training per week and still keep up with her studies. Breanna is the 2022 Virginia Level 6 Uneven Bar Champion.
Their daughter, Norah McClung is 13 years old and is a rising 8th grader at Blair Middle School in Norfolk. Norah enjoys Modern and Hip Hop dance as a member of her school dance team, playing the cello in her school orchestra, and she is currently learning the game of field hockey.
Johanna Hamilton
Administrative Assistant
Johanna was born on the Eastern Shore and grew up in the town of Wachapreague. She has three sons and two grandchildren. Her oldest son works as a firefighter/paramedic for Chesapeake and is in charge of the Eastern Shore branch for a very successful roofing company. He lives in Painter with his family. Her middle son is a currently working for T Solutions and working on finishing his bachelors degree. Her youngest son is 9 and loves fishing and video games.
She joined Grace UMC on June 22, 2021.
